Gouverneur Chamber's BOCES Student of the Month

Each month, the Gouverneur Chamber recognizes a student who is studying an aspect of business at St. Lawrence/Lewis BOCES, (Board Of Cooperative Educational Services) located in nearby Fowler, NY. The school serves eighteen school districts in St. Lawrence and Lewis Counties, NY.

The BOCES system provides cost-effective shared services, including career training for high-school students and adults, special education, alternative schools, technology education and teacher training, as well as dozens of programs to expand educational opportunity.

The Student of the Month award is sponsored by the Gouverneur Chamber of Commerce. The award is presented to those students whose efforts are of the highest caliber.

Elisabeth Porter

Graphic Communications

Elisabeth Porter, daughter of Cynthia Porter has been selected as the Career and Technical Education Student of the Month at Southwest Tech (BOCES) for December 2022.

Elisabeth is a senior at Gouverneur Central School and is enrolled in the Graphic Communications II Program at Southwest Tech.

Beth is a talented, hard working student. She always completes her work on time and it is of the highest quality. Beth works well with others and is a leader in our class.

Kaleb Webster

Auto Technology

Kaleb Webster, son of Wendy and James Webster has been selected as the Career and Technical Education Student of the Month at Southwest Tech (BOCES) for June 2022.

Kaleb Webster is a senior at Gouverneur Central School and is enrolled in the Auto Technology Program at Southwest Tech.

Kaleb is very knowledgeable in the automotive field and has a passionate interest in supercars. He is always ready to help others. Kaleb is not afraid to try new things and learns from his mistakes. He has great attendance and is always prepared for class. It is a pleasure to work with Kaleb.

Alexandra McDougall

Education & Human Service II

Alexandra McDougall, daughter of Jamie and Sandra McDougall has been selected as the Career and Technical Education Student of the Month at Southwest Tech (BOCES) for November 2022.

Alexandra is a senior at Gouverneur Central School and is enrolled in the Education & Human Service II Program at Southwest Tech.

Alex is a student who is always eager to learn, willing to help, and shows a great deal of compassion for others. Even when facing a challenge, she maintains a positive attitude and perseveres to accomplish the task at hand. Her enthusiasm has made her a very popular addition to the kindergarten classroom where she has worked during the recent marking period, applying her skills acquired in the classroom to hands on learning opportunities.

Her strong academic performance and community involvement has recently earned her candidacy for National Technical Honor Society membership at Southwest Tech. Alex possesses many characteristics that will continue to make her an asset to the Education & Human Services field, as she continues her studies to pursue a career in child psychology.

Alexander Lucas, son of Heather and Adam Crino has been selected as the Career and Technical Education Student of the Month at Southwest Tech (BOCES) for May 2022.

Alex is a senior at Gouverneur Central School and is enrolled in the Culinary Arts Program at Southwest Tech.

Alex gets along well with others and treats everyone with respect. He is motivated, organized, and is always on task. Alex is responsible and uses his time wisely. He works well independently or with others. Alex strives to do his best.

Hannah Duffy, granddaughter of Celene Duffy and daughter of Todd Stone has been selected as the Career and Technical Education Student of the Month at Southwest Tech (BOCES) for October 2022.

Hannah is a senior at Edwards-Know Central School and is enrolled in the Culinary Arts II Program at Southwest Tech.

Hannah is a very kind and generous student that extends a helping hand to all her peers. Her participation in class shows her knowledge of the material and her motivation to learn.

Hannah is confident when asking questions and welcomes constructive feedback. She strives to put forth her very best effort daily and is a pleasure to have in the program.

Brianna Reed

Metalworking Technology

Brianna Reed, daughter of Eugeneia Reed and Laura Chartrand has been selected as the Career and Technical Education Student of the Month at Southwest Tech (BOCES) for May 2022.

Brianna is a senior at Clifton-Fine Central School and is enrolled in the Metalworking Technology Program at Southwest Tech.

Brianna is an exceptional student to have in class. She is always eager to learn, prepared for class, assists others, and uses her time wisely. Brianna is interning at the Empire State Mines in Gouverneur and would like to pursue a career there. She has passed her DOT test and is pending results for overhead DOT. I could not say enough of Brianna, she is a hard worker and would be an asset to any business in the field.
