Gouverneur Chamber's BOCES Student of the Month
Each month, the Gouverneur Chamber recognizes a student who is studying an aspect of business at St. Lawrence/Lewis BOCES, (Board Of Cooperative Educational Services) located in nearby Fowler, NY. The school serves eighteen school districts in St. Lawrence and Lewis Counties, NY.
The BOCES system provides cost-effective shared services, including career training for high-school students and adults, special education, alternative schools, technology education and teacher training, as well as dozens of programs to expand educational opportunity.


The Student of the Month award is sponsored by the Gouverneur Chamber of Commerce. The award is presented to those students whose efforts are of the highest caliber.

Travis Bush, son of Eric and Tabatha Bush has been selected as the Career and Technical Education Student of the Month at Southwest Tech (BOCES) for April 2024.
Travis is a senior at Clifton-Fine Central School and is enrolled in the Heavy Equipment Operations II Program at Southwest Tech.
Travis always works to the best of his ability. He never complains about the daily schedule. Travis is always willing to do what needs to be done.

Korrina Jaquish, daughter of Vanessa and Jesse Blum, has been selected as the. Career and Technical Education Student of the Month at Southwest Tech (BOCES) for February 2024.
Korrina is a senior at Harrisville Central School and is enrolled in the Pharmacy Technician Program at Southwest Tech.
Korrina is the Pharmacy Student of the Month for her outstanding dedication and enthusiasm. She consistently seeks additional challenges, displaying a proactive approach to learning. Korrina's positive attitude and willingness to help others make her a valued member of our classroom. Her commitment to excellence and reliability in completing tasks make her truly deserving of this recognition.

Nursing Assisting
Madison Kackison, daughter of Jessica Kobylanski and Gregory Kackison, has been selected as the Career and Technical Education Student of the Month at Southwest Tech (BOCES) for March 2024.
Madison is a Junior at Harrisville Central School and is enrolled in the Nurse Assisting Program at Southwest Tech.
Madi is an excellent student. She has done outstanding work during our clinical rotation and shows compassion and professionalism in her work. Madi is always willing to assist her classmates. She takes the initiative in the classroom and clinical setting. She is an active member of Skills USA. Congratulation Madi!

Kaden Schiszler
Metalworking Technology
Kaden Schiszler, son of Joseph and Melinda Schiszler has been selected as the Career and Technical Education Student of the Month at Southwest Tech (BOCES) for January 2024.
Kaden is a senior at Gouverneur Central School and is enrolled in the Metalworking Technology II Program at Southwest Tech.
Kaden is a highly motivated student in both the classroom and shop. He is competent in blueprint reading as well as design. Kaden's ability to operate the CNC plasma table far exceeds any other student who has been part of the program in the past. He is pursuing further education at Mohawk Valley Community College and will be a great asset to any future employer.

Elaina Raven, daughter of Christopher and Rachel Raven has been selected as the Career and Technical Education Student of the Month at Southwest Tech (BOCES) for February 2024
Elaina is a senior at Gouverneur Central School and is enrolled in the Education & Human Services II Program at Southwest Tech.
Elaina is conscientious, friendly, and helpful, has an excellent work ethic and thrives in her internship placements. She has been the class high achiever for two consecutive semesters, is an active member of Skills USA and the National Technical Honor Society.

Elizabeth Jenne has been selected as the Career and Technical Education Student of the Month at Southwest Tech (BOCES) for January 2024.
Liz is a senior at Governeur Central School and is enrolled in the Automotive Technology I Program at Southwest Tech.
Liz is an outstanding student academically and in the shop. She cares about the jobs she works on and shows pride ni her work. Liz is always willing ot help a fellow student when needed. She knows how ot work hard and is a natural leader. In the future, Liz has the making of an excellent employee and Automotive Tech.
