It was small town generosity and cooperation that got our "Welcome to Gouverneur" signs updated and refreshed. The Tribune Press wrote: "A new welcome sign was recently installed at the Gouverneur/Fowler Town line to welcome motorists to Gouverneur. The sign was purchased by Dave Spilman, Sr. of Fowler, and he has received the gratitude of the Gouverneur Chamber of Commerce."

 

A matching welcome sign was purchased by the Gouverneur Chamber and installed on US Highway 11 North, near the Gouverneur Elks Lodge No. 2035. Con-Tech, Inc. provided the lumber for installing it, as the old lumber was in bad shape, and the town crew offered the installation. The vinyl sign was designed by Arne Ormasen of Gouverneur. The labor for installing both signs was donated by the Town of Gouverneur Highway Department crew.
